Forato made it again to the podium at the Faenza round of the Prestige. The rider ranked 2nd Overall and confirmed himself as the absolute leader of the MX1 Elite. His comeback in Race 2 was noteworthy. In the MX2 Elite, a convincing result for Tuani too, 7th Overall. Two not perfect starts and a few mistakes complicated Ruffini’s weekend in the Fast.

The MX PRO Prestige MX1-MX2 Italian Championship went to the Romagna region for its third round of the season, precisely at the “Crossodromo Internazionale Montecoralli”, in Faenza (Ravenna, Italy), which is a historical circuit that is placed in the middle of Romagna’s hills, featured by a hard clayey surface.
Between Saturday and Sunday, though, the track was deeply worked on, and it completely changed its characteristics. From the hard surface of Saturday, where it was difficult to make the difference, it softened on Sunday, a situation that caused deep ruts and holes and transformed the racetrack into technical and selective.

SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery deployed Alberto Forato #303, the MX1 Elite class leader, Federico Tuani #3 and Luca Ruffini #669, both in MX2 but in two different categories: Federico in the Elite while Tuani in the Fast.

Saturday, which was dedicated to Free and Timed Practices, finished positively for our riders: in the MX1 Alberto was the fastest in both sessions and made his third consecutive Pole Position. In the MX2 Federico made the 3rd fastest lap time of his group and went in 5th place at the starting gate, while Luca made it to the 8th of his group and went to the gates in 15th position.

On Sunday morning the riders of the MX2 were the first ones on track. Tuani made two good races, supported by two good starts that made him begin in the “top 10” straight away. In both races, Federico had a good race pace and he kept signing good lap times until the end, finishing 8th twice. At the end of the day, he ranked 7th Overall and he moved up a lot of places in the General Classification, from P18 to P11. Finally, for him, a more than convincing performance.

Both races for Luca were compromised by a few mistakes. Especially in Race 1, he made a bad start and he fell off after contact with another rider at turn 2, so he was forced to recover. In Race 2 another start in the back of the group made him have to move up places once again. With a P24 and a P20 Overall, he finished in 8th place in the MX2 Fast; in the General Classification, he moved from P12 to P11.

In the MX1 Alberto’s races confirmed his excellent form. In Race 1 his start was not perfect, but Forato took only 4 laps to take the lead after that he began the race in the “top 5”. In the end, he won the race with more than 10 seconds of the gap from the rider behind. In Race 2 a little issue at his GasGas, suffered some time just before the start, forcing him to a furious comeback that emphasized his speed and his determination. From last place, Forato finished in P2. These race results made him rank 2nd Overall and confirmed his leadership of the MX1 Elite.

SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery will have to wait the weekend of the 18th and the 19th of June before racing again for the fourth round of the MX PRO Prestige MX1-MX2 Italian Championship, meanwhile, it will continue the FIM Motocross World Championship season which will have three-in-a-row rounds scheduled: Spain, France and Germany.

Alberto Forato #303: “The weekend went well. On Saturday I made a good lap in Timed Practice and I made my third consecutive Pole Position. On Sunday the track surface was different, milled and sprinkled. Consequently, it became technical and rutted. In Race 1 I started in P5, but after a few laps I managed to take the lead and I won. In Race 2 my bike turned off behind the starting gate, luckily it switched on again right after and I had to recover, finishing in P2. The next appointment will be with the GP of Spain”.

Federico Tuani #3: “It was a good weekend, I felt comfortable with the track and the bike straight away since Saturday, and I made a good lap time in Timed Practice. On Sunday I didn’t make bad starts, but they could’ve been better. I had to recover despite difficult track conditions but I had fun. I finished the day with two 8th places. It was a nice race but I could’ve made a better result. I rode well and I made good lap times, so I consider myself satisfied”.

Luca Ruffini #669: “On Saturday, in Free Practice, I found straight away a good feeling with the track. In Quali, I managed to make a good lap time as I was in P8 of my group, and I went to the grid in 15th place. In Race 1 I didn’t make a good start, and I also crashed after contact in turn 2. I restarted in last place but I found a good pace only in the second half of the race, so I finished 24th. In Race 2 I made a bad start again, and from P30 I managed to finish in P20. It was a good weekend, even though it was hard and challenging, but I’m sure that sooner or later better results will come”.
