2022 FIM Motocross World Championship - RND #09 GP Of Spain, Intu-Xanadù Arroyomolinos

After the Italian GP and the Sardinian GP, the FIM Motocross World Championship moves to Spain, where the season’s ninth round is staged on the intu-Xanadù Arroyomolinos track.

Located a few kilometres from the city of Madrid, the Spanish track develops flat, with very few differences in height but at the same time, much artificial roughness such as double and triple jumps, waves and rhythm sections. The bottom, consisting mainly of clay, is hard and compact with equally hard and insidious channels.

For the SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery, Saturday morning starts with the 18th time of Andrea Adamo #80 in the free practice of the MX2 class and the 7th time of Alberto Forato #303 in those of the MXGP. The morning then continues with the time trials: Andrea greatly improves his performance by finishing 8th; Alberto does just as well, completing the session as 6th.

On Sunday the track is milled and abundantly irrigated when the MX2 guys enter the track to compete in race 1. Andrea makes a decent start that immediately gives him the 10th position. In the first rounds, the Sicilian quickly gains ground on his opponents to reach 8th position but from the fourth lap onwards, his comeback undergoes a 'stop'. At the end of the heats, he ranked 8th. The second heat sees Adamo cornering among the last after avoiding some fallen riders but a sensational 'first lap' places him 11th at the end of the initial lap. In the following rounds, the Sicilian continues in his stubborn comeback up to rank 6th. In the second part of the race, a careful guide allows him to hold the position until the checkered flag. Thanks to today's two placings, Andrea ranks 7th of the day and in the championship, he gains a position by taking 6th place.

Alberto's first run is almost similar to that of his teammate. After a decent start that immediately projects him inside the 'top 10', the Venetian leads a regular race and between overtaking and overtaking suffered, he hits the 7th place. The start of race 2, sees Alberto begin his comeback towards the top of the standings from 14th place, after a not exactly perfect start. Unlike the first fraction, however, the Venetian does not manage to be very incisive in advancing also thanks to a more marked track with hard and insidious channels. At the end of the heat, Forato is confirmed 12th. Following the score acquired in the two heats, he finds himself 10th of the day and retains the 11th place in the general classification

Without a weekend stop, the FIM Motocross World Championship moves to the French track in Erneé where the French GP will be held on the first weekend of June, the tenth round of the season.
