Two solid heats gave Maxime Renaux the 5th place in the Overall ranking of the GP of Trentino at Pietramurata. The French confirmed his 3rd place in the General Classification of the MX2 class.
After an intense week of races in Belgium, the World Motocross “circus” transferred to Italy for the final rush of this complicated 2020 season: another three-in-a-row appointments in only one week which, in the end, will crown the World Champions of the MXGP and MX2 classes.
The place that will host those last three rounds is the “Ciclamino” International Circuit of Pietramurata (province of Trento, Italy), which is situated at the base of Dolomites.
Team SM Action Yamaha deployed only the French Maxime Renaux #959, who improved his 12th place gained in Free Practice with the 8th place in Timed Practice.
In Race 1 Maxime started just out of the “top 10” in lap 1. The first part of the race had ups and downs for the French: at first, Renaux moved up a little to 7th position, then he was overtaken and he moved back to 9th. In the second part of the race, the Team SM Action Yamaha rider gained the 8th place and he kept it until the checkered flag.
In Race 2 the start of Maxime was similar to the previous one. During the first laps though, the French gained quickly some places and he moved up to 5th. From that moment, Renaux conducted a solid race and avoided any mistakes, so at lap 19, at the finish line, he confirmed the position. At the end of the day, he was ranked 5th Overall, while in the General Classification he lost 3 points in advantage to his chaser, but he kept the 3rd place.
The appointment for the second-to-last round of the season is scheduled on the 3rd and the 4th of November with the GP of Pietramurata.
Maxime Renaux # 959: “It was a decent GP with an 8th place in race 1 and a 5th place in race 2. In both heats I got off to a bad start and was forced to recover; in race 1, a crash in the first laps was added to complicate everything. However, I kept my 3rd place in the championship and will try to improve myself for the last two rounds."
